This past week had been so hectic for me and the icy road situation added to the stress. Even on Black Friday, I was volunteering at a community school, so that's how the week ended. Winter driving is really taking its toll on me and thankfully the weather is much nicer in the next week. *fingers crossed*
On stressful days with no time to even think about makeup, I still go for a minimalistic make up look, (;o)) which basically means a sun screen, powder foundation, powder blush and a pink lipstick. I just feel powder products are much easier to throw on my face then creme products, that require blending and making sure everything is even. I have quite a bunch of pink lipsticks but my favorite shade these days is this Burberry Kisses lipstick in Pink Peony. I'll be honest that my first impressions were not great about this one but the color is so perfect for every occasion, that I couldn't stop wearing it.
Without further ado, lets move on the pics, followed by the swatches and then my experience with this lipstick.

One swipe is quite sheer but still coats evenly...
As you can see from the swatches above that on a single coat, this shade is a bit sheer and when you layer it on, it gets more and more opaque with better color payoff. It acts the same way on lips. A single swipe is great if I am running errands and if I have time, or I am going to a more formal setting, then I layer it on and it looks gorgeous. The coverage is even and pigmentation is great.
The shade 'Pink Peony' is a lovely medium pink and very close to the color of a vibrant pink peony. It radiates energy and still is a very wearable shade.
The formula has a very light-weight, gel texture, and probably the only lipstick that feels like nothing on lips and is completely fragrance free. Its extremely comfortable to wear, even though its not necessarily hydrating, as the name suggests, its still very good. It does have a luminous finish but nothing too over the top.
My only complaint would be the wear time. It lasts only a couple of hours on a regular day and a maximum of 4 hours on days when I do less eating and chatting and more of sitting and typing.
It goes off completely during meal times. I usually dab off lipstick on a towel before eating anything, because I find it quite ridiculous to see my lipstick all over my spoons and glasses. That's a secret thing I do on the dinner table before eating. And I normally do reapply after meals. So I do not have an issue reapplying my lipstick, but I expected better wear from Burberry. May be their 'Long Lasting Matte Lip colors' are more long wearing than these. By the way, Burberry promises 6 hours of wear time with the Kisses Lip color.
Apart from the wear time I really don't have any reason to dislike it. Just look at that packaging!! Those checks/plaid look so amazing and plaid on the lipstick is still there after over a moth of usage. It also has a magnetic closure and the lid always closes in the same position. It literally circles around the bullet and fits at the spot its meant to be on.. I might Instagram that closure. Its quite interesting!
The Kisses Lip Colors are designed to be buildable lip colors and that's what has kept me from returning it. Its literally the only lipstick that is pink, youthful, luminous but not over the top. Its the swipe-and-go formula that forced me to keep this in my everyday routine.
Overall, I love Burberry Kisses. Its not the perfect lipstick, but the formula is amazing and is fragrance free!
