Charlotte Tilbury's best selling nude pink lipstick comes in a holiday gift set for C$40 and its available at Sephora and also at Charlotte Tilbury's website. If there is anything I would consider a must have from CT's makeup line, its the lip products! I absolutely love her formula and the lip cheats are my favorite lip pencils. I highly recommend you to get this gift set because its worth the price and the shade Pillow Talk works for all skin tones.
More on this and a dupe for this beautiful shade in today's blog!
SWATCHES
As you can see from the swatches above MAC's Velvet Teddy is a pretty good dupe for Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk. Both are matte lipsticks, both are vanilla scented and both look the same on my lips. From the swatch above, you can see that Velvet Teddy is a touch deeper than Pillow Talk and that is where I draw a line of preference.
For most days I like to use Pillow Talk on its own and combined with the Pillow Talk lip cheat but when I want to layer, I like to apply Velvet Teddy on the darker lip colors to soften them out. I think I like both shades equally but I would prefer the shade of Pillow Talk on my skintone more than Velvet Teddy and I like the texture of MAC matte lipsticks better. I hope this makes sense, because when two lip colors are so close to each other, it is hard to pick a favorite.
But there you go with a MEGA DUPE ALERT!
Apart from the fact that most nude lipsticks look similar in swatches, they often appear different on lips based on my natural lip color and hence, there is a distinctiveness to each nude lipstick and that is also why I love them so much.
I was a pink lips girl for most of my life, but gradually developed a likeness for nude colors, and I always lean more towards the pink nudes that I find brightening compared to brown nudes, which for me, work best with smokey eyes. I still do the dark green smokey eyes and pair it with MAC Mocha or nude brown shade. MAC's Whirl is one such nude that I do not show much love to, because it's more brown on me than nude and reminds me of the 90's grunge look.
Lets talk about the mini Charlotte Tilbury's lip cheat in Pillow Talk which is included in this gift set. Oh, btw, did I mention that this set retails for $40 in Canada when a Charlotte Tilbury's Matte Revolution lipstick in Pillow Talk cost $42! So this set is a little bit cheaper and also includes a mini lip liner...I mean a lip cheat. I want to think that there should be a catch, since there is no free lunch, however, 'tis the season...and maybe this is in tune with spreading the holiday cheer...who knows! :D
So overall, this is a great gift set and will make anyone who receives it, feel special. the shade Pillow Talk is universally flattering in my opinion. If you are still second guessing, try out at a Sephora near you or visit a MAC store and try Velvet Teddy and see how it looks on your skintone.
Highly recommend grabbing this while you can. I got two, because a girl can never have too many lipsticks!
